Children Aged Five and Over Eligible for First Booster Shot

The Ontario government is expanding eligibility for COVID-19 first booster doses to children aged five to 11 to provide an extra layer of protection to those who need it ahead of the new school year.

As of September 1, 2022, parents and caregivers of children aged five to 11 became able to book an appointment for a paediatric COVID-19 booster dose through the COVID-19 vaccination portal or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1-833-943-3900. Eligible individuals can also book an appointment directly through public health units that use their own booking systems, Indigenous-led vaccination clinics, participating health care providers and participating pharmacies. COVID-19 Vaccine Bookings Open For Children Aged Six Months to Under Five Years

As of July 28, 2022, parents and caregivers of children aged six months to under five years became able to book appointments for the paediatric COVID-19 vaccine. Immunocompromised youth aged 12 to 17 are also eligible to schedule their second booster dose (fifth dose) if at least six months have passed since their first booster (fourth dose). Families can book appointments through a variety of channels including the COVID-19 vaccination portal and contact centre, directly through public health units using their own booking system, participating pharmacies, which individuals can find on Ontario's website using the pharmacy locator and select primary care providers.
