AstraZeneca Second Dose

A second dose of COVID-19 vaccine is needed for optimal protection against COVID-19 by all people who received AstraZeneca as their first dose of vaccine. Individuals who received the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine or COVISHIELD COVID-19 vaccine have two options to discuss with their health care provider when considering their second vaccine dose.  Please review the COVID-19 Vaccine Information sheet below carefully and make sure any questions you may have are answered by a health care professional.

If you received your first AstraZeneca vaccine at Summerville FHT/CarePoint Health we are now offering you the opportunity to have your second dose 8 weeks following your first dose. The second dose of AstraZeneca can be given as early as 4 weeks after the first dose but in order to obtain optimal efficacy, it is recommended that the second dose be given after 12 weeks. If taken earlier (at 9 to 12 weeks), the AstraZeneca vaccine is 69% effective against Covid-19 as compared to 80% effectiveness at 12 weeks or more.

We will be offering a vaccine clinic at Summerville FMTU, 101 Queensway, 7th floor on the following dates, with limited appointments available:

Book your appointment here:  https://booking.medeohealth.com/trillium-summerville-family-medicine-teaching-unit or call us at (905)  272-9700, ext. 224.
